The Nigerian football federation has finalized it's decision over the venue of the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier between the Super Eagles and the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon. There was an helicopter malfunction which had set in fire causing the crash of Augusta 109 Light Utility Helicopter. The incident occurred today being the 6 of July 2017 as the helicopter embarked on liaison mission targeted at further enhancing the synergy between the Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Air Force in the ongoing counter insurgency operation in the North East. According to the statement issued by Nigerian Air Force spokesperson, Air Commodore, Olatokunbo Adesanya said the incident, which occurred today, 6 July 2017, was as a result of an airborne technical fault with the helicopter. “The experienced NAF pilots, however, successfully ditched the helicopter into a pool of water to minimize damage and loss of lives. Consequently, there were neither any injuries nor loss of lives to anyone on board or on the ground. The suspected billionaire kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike a.k.a. Evans has charged the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris before the Federal High Court in Lagos over alleged illegal detention. We gathered that in a fundamental rights enforcement suit filed on his behalf by a Lagos-based lawyer, Olukoya Ogungbeje, the suspected kidnapper is praying for the order of court to direct the respondents to immediately charge him to court if there is any case against him in accordance with Sections 35 (1) (c) (3) (4) (5) (a) (b) and 36 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. In the alternative, he prayed the court for an order compelling the respondents to immediately release him unconditionally, in the absence of any offence that will warrant his being charged to court.
