Superstitious Belief in Yala, Obubra
The societies possess different beliefs which at times are
eventually true today through science. But today am bringing you and archive of
the superstitious belief of people of yala-obubra local government of Cross
River state.
Superstition
can be viewed as a rational belief in supernatural influence as leading to
either “good luck” or “bad luck”, it is seen as a believe that a particular
event would or would not happen in a way that cannot be explained by science
nor reasoning.
The following
are some of the superstitious belief in Yala local government of Cross River
State:
1.
When a bird defecates on you it’s a signal that
good luck and riches are about coming your way.
2.
Seeing a black worm in the daytime means bad luck
is approaching.
3.
Itching of pals means good luck and people will
give you money very soon.
4.
If a black cat crosses your path it signifies
danger is waiting for you or approaching you(a matter of life and died)
5.
Sweeping your house at night means you’re
sweeping your riches away.
6.
Putting peels of melon in fire means they would
be a big fight or quarrel in the house or compound.
7.
If you carry a comb always in your pocket it
means you will stay young forever.
Many people still keep the belief
till date but the introduction of Christianity has taken these believe to archives…..!!!So
